Wild in the WIld

"I don't know if I should take her. Do you think she'll make it?" Dylan worried before the Daddy Daughter Backpack trip last weekend. Alas, he had forgotten that she would be bringing the boundless energy of a 5 year old with the promise of s'mores, while he would be bringing the 300 lb. backpack. Every time he stopped to rest, he heard the taunt of a non-s'mored daughter: "C'mon Dad!"

Historical Event: June 1st, 2007. Olivia Jean Higginbotham wears pants for the first time in 3 years. She even says she likes pants, and will wear them all the time. Upon their return home, however, the Princess Genevieve dress reclaims its rightful place and does not come off for 3 days.

This was Liv's report to me of the event: "Well, we walked and walked and rested and rested. Then we camped and now we're home." Liv's report to Aunt Miranda was no shorter than fourteen minutes with scientific descriptions of both the area's native plants and wildlife, and detailed instructions of how to make s'mores. What gives, Livs?

Finally!

Ditto to Bruno, and hurray for the boundless energy of youth! I sat next to a 'pre-Disneyworld' six-year-old the whole way from Salt Lake to Orlando. Always an adventure.

Nice. Olivia is my kind of girl. Wears dresses, but camps with the best of them (except for I don't like camping).
