The 411 on #3

I awoke with a strong contraction and to my surprise, my water broke. I ran in (well, hobbled, really) and woke up Dylan. Time: 1:09 am. He called the midwife right away while I jumped in the pool. Dylan sat beside me, asking all kinds of questions about what I needed. I didn't have time to yell, "Nothing, I'm having the baby!" He didn't realize how bad this little dude wanted out. I think he thought we still had some time, but in his own words, "I was just hanging out and, BAM, two contractions later, he came." He was head and shoulders here when the midwife ran through the door and said, "Holy cow!" Time: 1:45 am.

Gage awoke at 9 and came into our room rubbing his eyes with a very grumpy look on his face. He climbed onto our bed and, like magic, his grumps melted away. "Is that baby Nash?" he inquired so sweetly with his whole face lit up. There was lots of giggling and then, "Where's his little feet?" Since then, he has unwrapped little brother about a hundred times to see his little feet. Miss Liv would not let him go for nearly an hour. She sat so serenely (as only a real princess would) and stared at him with awe and smiles and batting eyelashes. She's taken the roll of big sister very graciously: singing and rocking and kissing non-stop. As I changed one of his first diapers, Liv took one look at the sticky black/green goo and said, with frumpled eyebrows, "Wow, you're like a real mom." Yes I am, Liv. Yes I am.

Well it was fortunate that you guys had already planned a homebirth! It sounds like that's what Nash had planned too.

Leah and her big brother Chris were born in hospitals. Her other siblings were all home births. It was either that, or have them in the back seat of the car on the way to the hospital! I'm looking forward to meeting the new guy. We should set up a wrestling match between him and Mack...

You totally had, like, 4 days to get to my wedding and back. Whatever. Nash is pretty dang awesome. Most people would say cute, but I know better. That kid is radicool!

i am amazed how quick your labors are! you have some great birthin hips! I must not, or maybe things are just too comfy in me cuase my boys take there sweet time coming out. I labored with porter for 2 days, and Theo for 26 hours. Even on my third I pushed for 45 minutes! maybe if I have a girl next they will have a smaller head and slide out easy. I can dream, right?

Glad that it was fast for you.. and that he is healthy and loved to pieces by his siblings.
